Possessed by Paul James Cancels Summer Tour
Castanets set to release Texas Rose
Castanets, the weathered moniker of Ray Raposa, is set to release a new album titled Texas Rose, The Thaw & The Beasts on September 22. Author/songwriter Adam Gnade raves that this "is the most important thing the dude's recorded." The album comes in at just under 39 minutes, and Castanets will be touring the new songs this summer. You can catch him at the Mohawk in Austin on July 24. For a full review of the new album, click the album art. Tracklisting and tour dates after the jump.

Ocote Soul Sounds
I always like hearing good live music for the first time. Such was the case for me on Sunday with Ocote Soul Sounds. The band layed down some serious Latin grooves and lit up the afternoon. Ocote is the sometimes-solo project of MartÃn Perna with regular contributions from Adrian Quesada of Grupo Fantasma. Unfortunately, their next show (with "Ocote full funk suit") is at the same time as the KVRX benefit on Thursday. To listen and find out more, check their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/ocotesoulsounds
