Pimping the Public Library

Submitted by Doktor Ana on Sun, 08/17/2008 - 23:03.

This week on Pimping the public library we discuss the art of Surf music. The rumors are true, I often find myself dancing around my apartment to the Ventures or the Surfaris pretending that I am at a beach party. My pick for the week just might make that activity come alive for you: Dick Dale King of Surf Guitar: the best of Dick Dale and his Del-Tones.

Pimping the Public Library- a note on box sets

Submitted by Doktor Ana on Sun, 08/10/2008 - 21:02.

Like I said, a note on box sets: the library has them. Lots of them and they contain lots of free music. I have checked out many a box set in my day. Many times I don't know it is a box set until I get what I requested and at times it is more music than I want to deal with- But sometimes it is not.

Some box sets I have gotten from the Austin Public library have included a Blind Lemmon Jefferson 5 disc set (call # CD MJ JEFF) and Left of the Dial: Dispatches from the 80's Underground (call # CD MA LEFT)

Pimping the Interlibrary Loan

You say: F#$% you Ana, the library doesn't have the CD I want! You think the library is soooo cool. How cool are you now, loser?
Well the first thing I would tell you is to calm the F#$5 down and then I would say read on gentle giant because this week on Pimping the Public library we take a look at the interlibrary loan.

This weeks selection is incidental but I'll tell you what I got anyway.
