As part of last year's 365 Days Project, there is this really interesting and weird bunch of Italian renditions of American classics (although I really hope those songs aren't remembered as the American canon down the road). Ronnie Gaylord and Burt Bonaldie made up the singing duo of The Gaylords, a popular lounge pop act back in the 50's. Here is their American Hits, sung in Italian. In Yakety Yak, instead of "don't talk back" it's "shut upa you face" (long before the novelty number in the 70's).

Friday from 11pm-1am, Solid State is bringing you Austin's master DJs of dubstep, The Herd. I'm especially excited about these guests because they put on the best, most bassed-out, electronic dance phenomenon every Wednesday night at Plush. And I'm not talking cheesedick techno. This is the gritty wobble, London style.

It's a rare chance to hear a two-hour block of dubstep on the radio aside from the BBC's Mary Anne Hobbes show (which doesn't even air in the US). Do not miss this under any circumstances.

Seems like I always do a post whenever these guys release something. But rightfully so. Lazer Sword doesn't have a full-length out yet, so I'm scraping together anything they unleash online. Do yourself a favor and nab their gritty remix of Restiform Bodies' "Interactive Halloween Bear."

Marnie Stern is apparently going to have a kissing booth set up at Beauty Bar tonight (Wednesday 11/19) after a surprise second show here in Austin. She kind of blew up Mohawk last night, so I'll be going again. Not sure how much she's charging for a smooch, but I want to find out :)
