If you're into folk-like tunes and you're looking to escape from your house where the rain has trapped you all day, I've got good news for you. As your friendly folk DJ, I'd like to let our lovely listeners (hey, that's you!) know about a show that's happening TONIGHT! At Lambert's, next to City Hall downtown at 2nd and Guadelupe, The Spring Standards will be supported by local artist, Picardy III. The Spring Standards hail from the Northeast, currently residing in Brooklyn. As their own Facebook pages describes them: "They sing of Life’s Great Joys, found, lost, found again and lost once more. The things we wanted and what we found instead. Things not turning out how we’d hoped, but turning out all the same." They bring a depth to indie rock that's incredibly refreshing. I haven't yet seen them live, but that's all about to change. A friendly Austin voice is opening for them, Picardy III. Picardy III's ever-chanigng lineup is all based around the genius of James Summers. His songwriting speaks to the pain and beauty found throughout life and relates it in a way that everyone can understand. They've got a new EP coming out in early November on Rainboot, so keep an eye out for that.
All this to say, if you're looking for something beautiful to be a part of tonight, mosey on down to Lambert's. Doors are at 10. Picardy III goes on at 10:30 and The Spring Standards go on at 11:30. You can find more information or purchase tickets here. And if you wanna check out the bands for yourself first here's a song I recommend from Picardy III and here's a video from The Spring Standards. Happy Saturday, folks.
