I heard somebody say that the war ended today...

So I just saw Devendra Banhart live for the first time on Sunday night. Unfortunately, he was not wearing that outfit. Fortunately, he was fantastic. I don't listen to him a lot, and I only knew a select few songs, but I was really, really happy the entire time I was watching him. I was also completely sober - which is rare at live shows for me - and I was literally beaming when I walked out of the doors of La Zona Rosa. "That was just lovely!" I couldn't help but say over and over again. I'm not sure why it was so pleasing, but I will credit it mostly to how happy Devendra and co. seemed on stage. They danced around and made faces and used different voices and sang and played bongos (which I'm generally not a big fan of, but again, super great) and just put out a loving presense. If Devendra's not your thing, I totally understand. He definitely borders on that whole hippie genre, but if you need something nice and uplifting pick up a copy of any of his albums and smile...

By the by, he usually looks more like this:
