I Saw Kimya Dawson On Monday and It was Magical

So, I saw Kimya Dawson on Monday. It was a pretty amazing experience. My boyfriend was in town for the weekend but was flying out Monday before the show and so we were both pretty bummed about missing it because I mean, I love Kimya, and he loves Kimya, but we love Kimya more together, you know? Anyway so we were looking on her livejournal at pictures of her cutie baby (who is named Panda) and being like "Omgz heartz" and things. Anyway, miraculously, my BF's flight got cancelled and we decided it was fate and so we made the couple-of-blocks trip down my street (I love living on Red River) and went to the Mohawk and saw Kimya! It was jawesome! (Yes Street Sharks Jawesome!) I found that both my radical punk friends AND my hipster friends love Kimya too! Because they were both there!

I didn't catch any of the other bands, but Kimya's baby-daddy played first, playing some fast and simple tunes in his cutie little French accent. He kept talking about how hot Texas is (that's all musicians ever say in my experience) and then Kimya came on! And she told us all to sit on the floor! And we did! And my feet and legs fell asleep and died and fell asleep again because of it. However, she was amazing and like a beautiful tattooed goddess of baby songs she blessed us with her anti-folk hits and not-hits. And all the radicals and hipsters in the audience raised their fists in the air and sang along with her! We are all one people in the presence of the all-cutie Kimya Dawson.

Did I mention Panda was AT the show? Kimya also had a boy named Corbin sing some songs along with her and invited everyone to sit on the stage and on her lap. It was really a magical evening for all. I'm pretty sure I cried at some point.

The greatest part was I got to spend it with my sweetie and squeeze his little cutie hands at our favorite parts of the songs.

Conclusion: Magicly twinkly songs about being a young adult are the future of punk-hipster international relations. Also, sparks sponsored co-op parties.

The first time I saw kimya

The first time I saw kimya was magical. It was 3 years ago and I got to open for her with my terrible band from high school.

I went to see her on Monday, too. But I didn't end up seeing shit. There were so many people and I am short. :(

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, though! Ain't she somethin'?
