They do it again

What an exciting post season its been so far. It started two weeks before the post season even began with the whole Rockies/Padres/Phillies/Mets/Cubs/Brewers/DBacks Wild Card race. After the Rockies dominated both opponents (Phillies and DBacks) they "easily" made it into the World Series. Winning 21 of 22 games. On the other side, in the AL, you had the Indians spanking the Yankees out of contention which ultimately led to the demise of skipper Joe Torre. On the other side, the Red Sox took out the Angels in three games. This is where we now stand. Or, stood... After being up 3-1 in the series, the tribe had one more game at Jacobs Field. Before this game, you had the whole "It's not the end of the world if we lose" attitude by Manny Ramirez. Well, for the Red Sox, it's not the end of the 2007 post season either. Josh Beckett came out and pitched another remarkable post season game and got his second win of the series now behind 3-2.

The Tribe, still up in the series, had an arsenal of pitchers left: Arguably the AL CY Young winner in CC Sabathia and the top 5 among that list in Fausto Carmona. Now, let's take a step back a second and look at what this situation resembles. Chicago. 2003. Cubs need one win to get to their first world series in over 50 years. Kerry Wood and Mark Prior ready to go in game 6 and 7 if needed. The Marlins, yes, along with Josh Beckett, came back and eventually went on to win the World Series. Now 4 years later, Beckett is doing the same thing.

I can't pinpoint just one particular problem in the Indian organization this past weekend, as there were many. Looking like a completely different team, the Indians would never take the lead, even for a short while, the rest of the series. To me, it looked like neither the hitting or pitching was getting it done. The hitting especially. Travis Hafner and Grady Sizemore, the heart and sole of the team could not get it just getting one rbi COMBINED in the last three games of the series.

On the Red Sox side, Beckett with under a 2.00 era. Schilling, master as usual in the post season. And now, even Dice K getting in on the action. Once again the Red Sox have made it to the World Series after being down 3-1 or worse in the ALCS.

The Red Sox will now taker on the Rockies for what looks to be on paper a blowout. But hey, with what the Rockies have been doing these past 22 games anything is possible. And now, to sum up in one phrase what this 2007 fall classic match up will be like: GETCHA POPCORN!
