As you probably don't know, I try to make it my mission to play as many unknown or relatively unknown Texas artists on my show as possible every week. Although Phonetik Epidemik airs from 3-5 am on Tuesday mornings, I do have frequent callers and listeners. This is simply to get the message out about some of the bands I've been playing. Yay Texas.
I haven't heard of any of these bands! Some of my friends just moved here and I made them a mix of Austin bands to know... not necessarily which bands are best or most important, but artists that I know and like and that will probably come up in conversation sooner or later. It included: Reverse X-Rays, Transmography, Mammoth Grinder, Horse+Donkey, Ethan Master of the Hawaiian Ukulele, J. Chu, The Strange Boys, Goodnight Fish, The Hunnies, Best Fwendz, Foot Patrol, and Low Red Center (and more!). I also like A Faulty Chromosome a lot and they just moved here.
I'd love to trade an Austin mix for a Texas mix from you if you are interested!
