Well looks like this lawsuit thing backfired on Roger Clemens. This pains me to see, especially because Clemens is not only a UT and Houston icon, but also an icon for baseball across this state. The fact is Clemens should have anticipated this. I am all in favor of a persons legal right to take someone who is defaming you to court in order to clear their name, but Clemens should have take J360 before doing this. In order to have grounds for a case, the statements made about you must be proven false. In the last few months some of those facts have actually been confirmed in the eyes of the public. Public opinion is that Clemens used steroids.
Clemens has to be sure his house is clean. When you file a public suit your life and credibility is also on trial. The New York Daily News reported on Sunday night that Clemens and country singer Mindy McCready had an affair. This affair allegedly started when Clemens was 28 and McCready was 15. Now why would an established MLB star risk his career all for an under aged girl? This is beyond me.
Clemens has no credibility in my eyes. His image of a family man has always been the reason why many people would not think Clemens would lie under oath or takes steroids. But if these allegations are real, this goes out the window. What is most damaging is that McCready said she could not deny the allegations. Clemens and Vick are the two athletes that I recall falling the fastest and the hardest in my lifetime.
