Cody ChestnuTT is probably best known for writing and performing on the Root's hit "the Seed 2.0," but despite the success of that track his solo career has had little success or recognition. My Love Divine Degree is a mixed bag of R&B, soul, funk, and even a slight ska tint on some tracks (see tracks 7 & 13). Production oscillates between clean spacey modern R&B like something you'd find on a Gilles Peterson Brownstone Bubble compilation, to consciously lo-fi neo-great Raphael Saadiq offering vocals on several tracks (3 & 14). Imagine Gary Clark Jr. if he made modern R&B instead of blues rock.
