This is treacle-sweet shoegaze, shoegaze with a sense of fun. Claiming members from both sides of the pond as well as Australia A Sunny Day in Glasgow has been around a while now, putting out albums since 2006. Planning Weed Like It’s Acid / Life Is Loss is technically a double EP – I think the split sits between tracks 4 and 5. The first half is a little harsh sometimes, but a pleasure through and through with the more sonically complex combination of effects pedals and processing going on you (might) know and love from a shoegaze outfit. The second half has something like a tone shift towards the dreamy. You wouldn’t be remiss in calling this noise rock a la Gorilla Biscuits, but the quality of the leading female vocals here is good and clean. Track 8 (Dedicate Your Love to Silence, Talk About The Loss (Sentimental Ghosts)) is the most dream pop part of this album. The rest is embraced in reverb and buzz and love. I like this album. There is nothing bad here.
