This week on The Marcus and Tayo Show (Wed. nights/Thurs. mornings 3-5 am), we were lucky enough to have hip hop artist Drastik stop by the studio for an interview, fresh off of opening for J. Cole's Texas Tour. We also got into some tracks from his "30 songs in 30 days" Daily Download project and Drastik provided some insight into his recording process as well as a new project that he's currently working on. FREE WEEK AUSTIN has taken over the city! I didn't get back to Austin until yesterday, so I missed a lot of the action. Last night I met up with Kevin and Mike of MOTH FIGHT before their free show at BEAUTY BAR in Austin, TX.

Standing in the street behind STUBB’S BBQ in AUSTIN, TX I met with two members of JUPITER ONE before their show with Regina Spektor.

We only had a few minutes to talk because they had to go on shortly, but we were able to chat about a few things. We discussed their latest album’s allusion to Japanese short films and their latest music videos. The guys had to run, but before they did, they told me how much they loved KVRX.

Nichole Bennett: Hi, I’m Nichole, and I’m here with a couple of dudes who are in a band. It’s called Jupiter One. Do you guys want to introduce yourselves?

Tomorrow night (Monday November 30) at 9pm, Close Enough for Jazz has been kind enough to let me air an interview I did with Darren Hanlon while he was in the state touring (it's a different edit from the other airing that I linked to). He's NOT a jazz artist, but he did study jazz, so in recognition of the fact that it's Close Enough for Jazz that's making the KVRX interview airing possible, the first excerpt of the interview transcription that I have is about Darren's jazz background.

Tonight at 9pm-11pm central time, a rough cut of the interview I conducted with Darren Hanlon here in Austin will be airing on WMUC in Pennsylvania. It'll be aired by former KVRX DJ and fellow Darren fan Leila, and she'll be playing Aussie bands that Darren recommended during the second part of her show. I feel proud of this interview, if not the production value at this point. I want to thank Leila for airing it. KVRX makes the best DJs!!
