Joan of Arc tonite

Submitted by dean on Thu, 06/12/2008 - 18:42.

The penultimately weird, annoying, yet oddly inspiring Joan of Arc will be performing at the Mohawk tonite. The Chicago band, led by singer/dorky mastermind Tim Kinsella, rose out of the ashes of Cap'n Jazz, and despite several breakups, have continued creating their absurd and off-putting (but sometimes catchy) indie rock well into the 21st century, tonite supporting their newest disc Boo Human. This is a notable show, as I don't think they tour much.

Hi,

Come to The Parlor tonight - I am playing a 4 song set on guitar with Meggie Hilkert (of Eat Avery's Bones) on bass: really quiet stuff...no drums or nothin like that.

But, before I play, a wrecking crew of bands from Lubbock will be dominating the floor @ The Parlor: Go To Hell, La Panza & The Numerators!

The night will start off with Fake Blood @ 8:30pm. The entire show will be over by 11:30pm.

Thursday, May 15th @ The Parlor, 100 E. North Loop

Tim and Eric aweso...DENIED

The worst feeling in the world is when you are ready to laugh and you get denied.

That's what happened to me today, when I had my Tim and Eric awesome tour ticket in hand.

I call the venue to find out how to get there, and they tell me it's 21+.

Life is hard when you're young.

a mission

Submitted by DJ Megz on Mon, 04/14/2008 - 22:56.

As you probably don't know, I try to make it my mission to play as many unknown or relatively unknown Texas artists on my show as possible every week. Although Phonetik Epidemik airs from 3-5 am on Tuesday mornings, I do have frequent callers and listeners. This is simply to get the message out about some of the bands I've been playing. I hope you will listen and enjoy:

Nouns Group (rock, Plano)
Koji Kondo (punk/grind, Fort Worth)
Zanzibar Snails (experimental, Denton)
Shiny Around the Edges (experimental, Denton)
Last Men (rock, Denton)
Fight Bite (pop, Dallas/Denton)
