9/28: Loud Rock Party

Submitted by StephanieB on Sat, 09/29/2007 - 16:53.

Brian and Willie of the Loud Rock Department (recently instated) threw a raucous party last night with live music by Katalepsis and Mammoth Grinder. DJ Polaris was also spinning some wussy indie rock and it didn't really make sense.

9/26: Interpol with Liars at Stubb's.

Submitted by StephanieB on Fri, 09/28/2007 - 17:11.

Why don't more shows start at 8pm? Grab a quick dinner then head downtown before dark and get home in time to get a decent night's rest. Why are venues like Mohawk and Emo's in denial of the fact that people have to get up and do things like work or go to class on week day mornings?

9/23: J.CHU and Reverse X-Rays at Mohawk

Submitted by StephanieB on Fri, 09/28/2007 - 14:33.

On Sunday I saw J.CHU and Reverse X-Rays perform at Mohawk.

Sometimes it is hard to write honestly about your friends' bands, but I can honestly say that Jason Chu has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. At one point I cried a little. It's true. He strums simply on his acoustic guitar and sings earnestly, without wavering. I would recommend seeing him perform if you ever get a chance. Here is a video to hold you over in the meanwhile:

9/22: Animal Collective with Tickley Feather at Emo's

Submitted by StephanieB on Sun, 09/23/2007 - 01:21.

Tonight, the Animal Collective sold out Emo's. My best bud TJ (who also has the show after mine) and I tried to make it by 10 when the show was said to start, but after the obligatory stop for cash and cigarettes we were in the venue around 11. The show started off late with Tickley Feather, who I was looking forward to seeing, but I could hardly hear her over all the talking in the audience.
