Insect Warfare from Houston Texas is officially calling it quits. There last show is scheduled for Dude Fest in Indianapolis on June 21st. For those of you that didn't know Insect Warfare played live at KVRX on May 21st 2006.

Calvin Owens, 1929-2008

Houston blues legend Calvin Owens, a trumpet player, conductor, and arranger best known for his tenure as B.B. King’s bandleader in the 1950s, 70s, and 80s, and for his successful solo career thereafter, died on Thursday from his home in Houston. He was 78 years old.

Big move for Astros: Too big?

The Houston Astros made their biggest offseason move since Roger Clemens went from "no" to "maybe" about 12 years in a row. Miguel Tejada, most famously from the Oakland teams of the early 2000s, was traded from Baltimore this morning in a multi-player deal.

Houston gets: SS Miguel Tejada

Baltimore gets: OF Luke Scott, 3B Michael Costanzo and pitchers Dennis Safarte, Matt Albers and Troy Patton

Glass Candy Grenades

As the only KVRX sports guy who blogs about music, I think it's my duty to let you know how the Glass Candy show went in Houston: Well.

They were in Austin last Wednesday supporting Architecture in Helsinki, so maybe some of you have already seen them on this road trip. I was busy that night, plus I hate Emo's outdoor and their smoke-filled cattle pen of a venue.
