As one of the last shows of this year's SXSW, The Black Keys took Stubbs’ Waller Creek Amphitheater stage and opened their show with the hit “I Got Mine” featuring a killer guitar solo from Dan Auerbach and a healthy helping of cowbell from Patrick Carney. Auerbach then introduced the next, new song: “This is Nowhere” off their upcoming album “Ohio Players” which features a gripping bassline and chorus. Next, things got bluesy as “Lo/Hi” came up which ended in a fury of drums, drums that then quickly changed beat to the simple but iconic “Howlin’ for You” to which the crowd erupted. Every “Da-da-da-da-da-da” was shared between both Auerbach and the packed Stubb’s leading up to another epic solo and cool, slowing fade out. The show concluded with a huge sounding rendition of “Little Black Submarines” off of their 2011 album “El Camino” which ended with Dan and Patrick playing to each other in the dramatice finale of “Little Black Submarines.”
