What's your position and how long have you been on staff?

Community Affairs Manager. I've been on staff since this summer!

What is your typical day like as a staff member?

My typical day starts with my department! Usually, I'll make a list of all the things we need to accomplish for the day/week and check in with the person responsible for it. I'll chat with Jaime about the deep listening theme, check in with my interns on the newsletter or community affairs shows (listen to Beyond the Booth & Flight of the Bumblebees), and talk with Fernanda and Ivana about DEI or Volunteer. Then I go to all our little meetings and try to hang out at the station as much as possible!

What do you do outside of KVRX?

I'm also in Spark Magazine! I love writing, so I try to fit some time for that in everyday. Even when I can't, I definitely read a ton. Right now, I'm reading Happy Hour by Marlowe Granados which I highly recommend—it was shown to me by my dear co-host DJ Kunika. Apart from that, I've been meaning to get back into embroidery for an extra creative outlet.

What is the name of your show? What is your show about?

Romance ETC. As I might've mentioned, I host this with my best friend DJ Kunika. For an hour, we talk about love (and much more) while playing our favorite romantic songs of the week.

If you could only play one album on your show what album would it be? Why?

If I could only play one album, I would choose The Idler Wheel by Fiona Apple. I think she's very wise and knows a lot about love.

Favorite concert?

Japanese Breakfast and Sasami at Stubb's on Halloween last year. It was the very end of Levitation 2021 which was a fun but exhausting weekend. I had been super stressed, but that Sunday was just really chill and lovely. I was with some of my favorite people, and we had an amazing time <3

If you could have your favorite artist sing you Happy Birthday who would it be and why?

It would be Amy Winehouse; she's got a voice made for singing Happy Birthday.

If you could only listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life, what song would it be? Why?

I could listen to anything by Beach House forever. They're absolutely my favorite band, but right now my favorite is Only You Know. It changes often, but for now, I'll stick with that.

What's your favorite KVRX memory?

[REDACTED] you'll have to ask me in person.

Lastly...what advice would you give to the new DJs?

Show up—KVRX's doors are always open! There are so many wonderful people to meet and things to learn when you're present.
