What's your position and how long have you been on staff?

I am a Music library director and have been on staff since summer of this year.

What is your typical day like as a staff member?

As library director, I help track music send in from promoters, update the newbin, and maintain music master database.

What do you do outside of KVRX?

Outside of KVRX I like to draw, read, and play guitar (badly lol). I am also currently in a psychology research lab.

What is the name of your show? What is your show about?

Far East Of East is a legacy show on KVRX showcasing Asian music! I am a co-host on it with my friends Anya (HOJI) and Jeffery (DJ Doraemon). I also have another show with Anya called Criterion Core and we play movie-inspired soundtracks. Stay tuned to listen to both back to back Mondays 3-5pm!

If you could only play one album on your show what album would it be? Why?

I would play Race by Alex G.... It's such a comforting album to me and there are no skips on it. It's also the album that I first listened to by Alex G and got me obsessed with his music.

Favorite concert?

Last year's Japanese Breakfast concert on Halloween was probably my favorite concert ever. Even though I wasn't the biggest Japanese Breakfast listener or knew her songs that well at that time, this concert really made me appreciate her music more. The openers were Sweet Spirit and Sasami, both also really great artists and performers that I now love dearly despite never having heard their music before the concert. The fact that everyone was in costume, even Michelle Zauner and her band dressed up as squid game characters, just made the whole experience even more memorable.

If you could have your favorite artist sing you Happy Birthday who would it be and why?

I would really love if Adrianne Lenker sang me Happy Birthday. I think her voice is just so beautiful and unique. Adrianne if you're reading this... I'm turning 20 on December 26th.

If you could only listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life, what song would it be?

If I Could Hold Your Soul by Cities Aviv. I love the twinkly melodic instrumentals in that song combined with the kind of harsh vocals. I definitely had it on loop for an embarrassing amount of time at some point.

What's your favorite KVRX memory?

Favorite KVRX memory would definitely have to be going to rotation every week and being able to see my friends just hanging out in the station and listening to music of all kinds. From Duster to Twerknation.. I feel like I don't know what to expect every time I go in but we always have a good time. Rotation is also where I meet a lot of new KVRX folks and I love talking to the new DJ's and getting to know everyone.

Lastly...what advice would you give to the new DJs?

Go to all the events! Apply to intern! Get active on the discord. Talk to us. Please, pleaseeee. Don't be scared we don't bite (at least most of us).
