What's your position and how long have you been on staff?

Post Audio Director; since Summer 2022

What is your typical day like as a staff member?

My duties involve mixing and mastering any recordings we do at KVRX, from performances by local bands to interviews with well-known acts. Since my tasks are in the post-production phase, a lot of my work gets done in my bedroom studio once I'm done with my school day. That said, I love being at the station for Deep Listenings, Local Live, and just to hang out!

What do you do outside of KVRX?

Outside of KVRX, I'm a second-year RTF major looking to minor in Latino Media Arts. I live and breathe audio, and I have an electronic music artist project called Feathervane that lets me express myself creatively. I'm currently learning how to DJ, so hopefully, I can play some shows sometime soon!

What is the name of your show? What is your show about?

My radio show is called "Cue Points," and it's dedicated to showcasing the diverse worlds of electronic music and beyond. With tracks from all kinds of artists and genres, you can expect to hear a variety of music, ranging from relaxing beats all the way to the sounds of the dance floor. It goes live every Saturday from 3 pm to 4 pm!

If you could only play one album on your show what album would it be? Why?

If I could only play one album on my show, it would probably be bitbird's "Gouldian Finch 4" compilation. It has a super wide selection of styles from a ton of artists I really look up to, and I always listen to it whenever I'm traveling. I've even had the cover art as my wallpaper ever since it came out! Definitely an album I hold close to my heart.

Favorite concert?

I saw Wavedash perform their "World Famous Tour: Pure" live show at The Marc earlier this year, and it was the most fun I've ever had at a concert. I was right at the front the entire time, and the energy was beyond anything I had felt before. They're one of my favorite acts right now, and the venue was on the smaller side, so being in such an intimate space with other fans made the experience super memorable.

If you could have your favorite artist sing you Happy Birthday who would it be and why?

I'm just imagining Porter Robinson singing me "Happy Birthday" through his formant shifter so it sounds all high-pitched. That would be pretty funny.

If you could only listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life, what song would it be?

I could listen to "start//end" by EDEN on repeat forever. It has been my favorite song for years and I don't see that changing anytime soon. It's super special to me.

What's your favorite KVRX memory?

My favorite KVRX memory is probably the last Local Live of the spring 2022 semester. We had an amazing band play, and everything just went super well. It felt like a great sendoff for the graduating crew members, and kind of marked the transition to a new era of the Production department.

Lastly...what advice would you give to the new DJs?

The biggest piece of advice I could give is to get involved beyond just hosting your show. There are so many beautiful people to meet in KVRX, and the best way to connect with them would be through our social events, meetings, and productions.
