How did you hear about KVRX?
I always wanted to be a part of a college radio station, so I went on HornsLink to see if UT had one!
What kind of music do you play on your show and what is its overall theme?
I play feminist punk rock from 1970s to present day. It's overall theme is putting a spotlight on female fronted bands and giving them a platform to further their message. It has an education aspect where I talk about the riot grrrl movement and the bands I'm playing but it is also high energy and screaming.
What is your favorite part of being a DJ?
I love being able to curate playlists to create a narrative and helping support my favorite artists by giving them exposure to new audiences.
Who are your favorite artists and what are your favorite albums?
For !!! REBEL GRRRL !!! I love to play Bratmobile, X Ray Spex and Babes in Toyland. Anything from Sick 'Em by 7 Year B*tch is a go to from me as well as Germ Free Adolescents by X Ray Spex. Aside from my radio show, I love 60s folk acts such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and The Byrds. Deja Vu by CSN&Y is one of my all time favorite albums and I never get tired of listening to it. Some other artists and albums I love are Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden, Independent Worm Saloon by Butthole Surfers and The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.
