DJ Rat NFL fan with superstar brain picks the games of week 2
Last week didn’t go to well for my predictions but such is life—time to lock in.
5 Must See Matchups.
Patriots-Dolphins
Patriots Dolphins are two teams that exceeded my initial predictions. Tua led one of the best performances of his life against a weaker Chargers defense and the Patriots held the defending NFC champion Eagles to a low 16 point. Look for a Dolphins win but a more conservative Tua this week.
Eagles Vikings
Eagles vs Vikings should amount to a primetime beatdown. The Eagles have dominated the recent head-to-head games over the past year and this Vikings team is a full step behind the roster of Superbowl hopeful Eagles.
Chiefs-Jaguars
Playoff rematch. The Jacksonville Jaguars have quickly ascended as a top team in the AFC with the arm of Trevor Lawrence and the dynamic skill room including Travis Etienne and Calvin Ridley. The Chiefs are fresh off a loss to the Detroit Lions but with the return of Kelce and Jones the Chiefs should put up a more convincing display of superiority on both sides of the ball.
Ravens - Bengals
Last week Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals performed abysmally against a revamped Cleveland Browns. The Bengals offensive line seems to be permanently in flux but that hasn’t stopped Burrow who has gotten the ball out faster than everyone last week. With a dry ball in hand expect a bit more offense. Especially so with key injuries in the secondary, namely sat CB1 Marlon Humphrey. The Ravens are also down their star recovering target Mark Andrews and running back J. K. Dobbins. The Ravens receiving room has improved since last year but will these limitations in the second week catch up to them?
49ers - Rams
Should be great. We have two of the best coaches in the league going against each other for the first time this year. Obviously, the 49ers are the better team. Since 2021 the 49ers have beaten the 49ers four of their last five games. Most are saying the 49ers will win and it’s hard to go against them. Then again most foresaw a Seahawks win last week so this could be a tough game.
My LOCK of the week
Giants - Cardinals
Last week was rough for the Giants. A 40-point loss and shut-out. They’ll look to rebound against a skeleton roster that actually had a decent game last week against the Commanders. Picking against the Cardinals is pretty easy, they’re such a weak roster and it’s hard to imagine a matchup advantage they’ll ever have this season, but it’s so easy to pick.
My RAT TRAP game of the Week.
Jets - Cowboys
The Jets are heavily doubted after the loss of their QB in the first drive of the season. The Cowboys were already probably favored in this game even with Aaron Rodgers but their rosters are actually very comparable and the Jets offense lines up quite well with the Cowboys offense. The main reason the Cowboys are favored by 10 points or more is because of Zach Wilson and how awful he is. I mean just awful, probably the least talented QB in the NFL starting right now. How sad for a wonderful roster and Jet fans. Still, there's a chance the Jets could capitalize off of Prescott's mistakes and Breece Hall’s strong legs and beat the cowboys in a stunning upset. Probably not though.
