On Saturday, March 14, I had the pleasure of interviewing Radium Dolls, an Australian punk rock group making their debut U.S. performance at this year’s SXSW.If you’re in need of that Aussie punk feel, they’re definitely worth checking out.

Today I'm joined here with Radium Dolls. Can y'all introduce yourselves and the position y'all play in the band?

Hi, I'm Will, the singer. I'm Tom. I play the guitar. I'm Bryce and I play drums. I'm Ewan and I play bass,

Will: and you also play some harmonica.

I know y'all are pretty stacked with shows coming up for SXSW. How are y'all feeling about that and how are you all enjoying Austin so far?

Will: Yeah, Austin's mad. I love it, we had three shows yesterday, so that was probably the hardest day outta the way, so we're hoping it's relatively smooth sailing here on out.

I wanted to talk to y'all about your album that you recently released in January, Wound Up. I listened to it and it definitely had interesting ways of storytelling. Are there any songs on that album that resonates with you specifically?

Will: I really like Golden Boy, so I just wrote it as a G up to myself basically.

So that one, I definitely hear a lot of myself in that one. And the rat song

Bryce: I just play the drums.

Ewan: Probably Golden Boy as well. I like that one.

What was the story behind hotheads Hot Breads?

Will: Haha, There's no story.

Did Y'all go to a restaurant and think, damn, this food is delicious

Ewan:Yeah, I think I just saw a sign that said Hot breads on a…I don't know. It just popped into my head, hotheads eating hot breads and pretty much just went from there. Just started rattling off bread types.

And it worked.

Ewan: It worked. Yes, it worked.

Will: If you say so.

I was listening to it and I'm like, damn, this got me craving like good bread right now.

Will: Haha, pleased to hear that alexis

What exactly are y'all wanting to bring to the music industry with your music, or what do you think you already brought to the music industry?

Will: We're just trying to have a good time. We're just trying to see people at our shows having a good time. We're not trying to reinvent the wheel necessarily. Yeah, we're just good, solid.

Bryce: Yeah, just create a cool, fun, safe environment for everyone to have fun with us. That's it. Yeah.

Will: I mean, the industry is kind of hard, it's a tricky industry to be in and it can feel like you're pushing shit uphill at times. But yeah, we just try not to think about it too much.. try to be ourselves and try to enjoy it.

I also heard it's your first time here in the States. Do y'all have any personal goals you wanna accomplish during this SXSW season or are you just looking just to enjoy your time here?

Will: I mean, we've done a bit of networking with overseas promoters and stuff like that. Anyone who wants to help us out, we're keen to hear from,.Yeah, nothing really super specific I mean, obviously anyone who wants to lend us a hand in some, some manner, we're more than happy to hear from and have a chat.

Ewan: Yeah, probably get some like good Texas barbecue at some point. It's probably my goal

Is there anything else in the works for y'all and will Texas see you maybe sometime soon?

We've got three year visas so we will absolutely be coming back at some point. We haven't got anything set in stone just yet. Obviously just finishing off the touring for this album and then we'll get back to work, make more music, and then when the time is right, we'll get on that 15 hour flight again.

It was lovely speaking to y'all. Do y'all have any last words?

Just thanks to you for chatting with us. Shout out Mia! Very much thanks to everyone that's helped us!
