It’s that time of year again, when college radio fans rejoice at the annual 91.7 Day celebration! Joined by our sister station KOOP, KVRX will be providig an evening of live music and DJs, with doors opening at 7 p.m.. Support local music and discover your new favorite bands this Wednesday – 9/17– at the 29th Street Ballroom. The truly awesome lineup features feathervane, Alma Muñeca, HUNCH and CorMae, promising a night you won’t forget!
Feathervane
Get ready to chill out with KVRX favorite, Feathervane. The meditative, electronic project of KVRX alum, Simón Marulanda-Mesa, is sure to set the intentions for the night. Not sure where to start? Check out his newest release “Parthenia Glow” with OREONIC, which can only be described as an ambient soundtrack for your early twenties.
His busy week is only just getting started at our 91.7 festivities: on Sept. 19, Feathervane will be performing in support for TWO LANES at Empire, so head on out for a dreamy night!
Alma Muñeca
Art-pop force, Alma Muñeca are ones to keep your eyes (and ears) on. Their first single just dropped on June 14, but the trippy, bass-heavy track is rife with the musical maturity of a well-established group. The group has already played at Austin favorites like Elysium, Hole in The Wall and Sahara. Check out their “Empire” below to prep yourself for a guaranteed groovy set.
HUNCH
We have a hunch you’re going to like this three piece post-grunge group. From KVRX’s home city, HUNCH promises heavy guitar, raw vocals and crashing drum beats. Check out HUNCH’s originals over on their SoundCloud, including “Spitting Image” and “Endorphin Demo.”
CorMae
Closing out an evening of KVRX approved live music is Austin punk outfit CorMae. Describing themselves as, “3 girls, a they, & a guy walk into a band,” CorMae’s spunky tracks feature high energy beats from Exotic Fruitica's Aaron Gilligan and pop-punk inspired vocals. Their next single, “Summer Body,” drops next week ahead of their first tour kicking off Oct. 10th at Hotel Vegas. Check out their Instagram for tour dates and delve into their discography before Wednesday’s show!
