I'm DJ Angel F°°D (Cake) and I curate a specialty show: Angel F°°D (Wednesday, 12 am).

How did you hear about KVRX and what made you want to do your show?

I heard about KVRX through super cool, subversive, college radio-type friends, DJ Cardigan and DJ TuffKid, who participated. Angel F°°D descended out of the need for a new creative outlet to play around with, and the rallying around a virtuous, angelic aesthetic sounded like an enticing vehicle.

What kind of music do you play on your show and what is its overall theme?

Angel F°°D is an audio-visual ethereal program to become more virtuous; Angel F°°D is good for the soul, as they say. Angel F°°D centers around weekly virtues and not specific genres, but the sounds that frequent the 444hz frequencies tend to lean into the electronic avant-garde with some strings. The sporadic nature of the show's calculated variety is mirrored in the episodes themselves; the vibe is labored, breathy pants as an angel with one wing, manically flutters, and attempts to give you life advice. ** Angel F°°D has a few visualizers on YouTube that can be consumed in tandem with the show for a more immersive, rave-y experience **

What is your favorite part of being a DJ?

My favorite part of being a DJ is cultivating a new persona that I can project. I love making playlists so much, especially when I think about how I can be perceived from the week's playlist. Exercising my DJ persona when I promote the show to megasuperfans on Instagram is also a great joy. The visualizers also add elusive lore to the persona (and the show of course).

Who are your favorite artists and what are your favorite albums?

I am really toxic, and Radiohead is my favorite band (no shame); I got the In Rainbows vinyl when I was 12 and it has warped me into the girl boss that I am today. My other favorite albums are also in that daddish, 90s alternative region i.e. ) Bjork's Post and Gorillaz's Demon Days. **Ok, but DJ Angel F°°D (Cake)’s on record (no shame (!) recent favorite artists include: Jockstrap, Cornelius, Ecco2k, Katie Dey, Otto, and Mitski (I listened through Puberty 2 right before I turned 20, a favorite for the angel teen girl in me).

Listen to Angel F°°D every Wednesday from 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
