South by Southwest has long strived to platform diverse artists and creators at its festival, and this year was no stray from that pattern. I've compiled a list of what I consider to be the greatest LGBTQ+ performers at this year's showcase.

Saint Harison

Hailing from Southampton, United Kingdom, Saint Harison is slated to be the next big thing in R&B and soul. With a voice that's equal parts Frank Ocean and Sam Smith, the star's silky style and effortlessly engineered riffs make him a powerhouse performer that I see selling out arenas someday.

Next of Kin

This alt-country trio, comprising artists Caelin, Madison Baker, and Lili Hickman, is one of the most promising queer talents originating here in Austin, Texas. The group feels sonically reminiscent of The Chicks with the storytelling influence of boygenius, a stellar mix of vocal, lyrical, and performance prowess that's sure to solidify them as a mainstay in modern alt-country.

Susannah Joffe

Another Austin native who's quickly emerging as an essential voice in the indie/alt-pop sphere, Susannah Joffe chronicles her experiences as a queer woman in Texas through starkly personal lyricism and performance. Her gritty rasp and slight drawl naturally draw comparison to the vocal stylings of Chappell Roan.

Javiera Electra

A Chilean artist known for her unique blend of art pop and Latin alternative, Javiera Electra has a mythic sound that transports listeners into a sonic dreamscape. Her music, inspired by elements of Chilean folklore, feels like something fresh out of a fairy tale that I definitely see making massive waves in the next year.

Lovpune

Yet another Texas native, Lovpune is an indie-electronic pop artist who creates ethereal-sounding beats that are perfect soundtracks to any late-night drive. Her soft, floaty vocals are sure to captivate new audiences, and I have no doubt she'll emerge as a bigger artist within the next year due to her music's themes and authenticity.

Bershy

Bershy is bringing 1980s-inspired pop back to the musical forefront with her high-energy synth and dance tracks. With clear influences from artists like Kate Bush and Björk, Bershy is the perfect new listen for anyone longing for some 80s-90s pop nostalgia.
