Which song, album, or artist initiated your love of music?
While I'd like to posture as the prodigy music boy who listened to NEU! at the ripe age of 10, I wouldn't be fooling anyone. My PSP could only hold one magnificent album as a child: Blink-182's Greatest Hits. This foundation doomed me to a life of math rock, 90s indie, and midwest emo. I wouldn't have it any other way.
How did you first hear about or get involved with KVRX?
The idea of student radio always seemed so far-fetched before I transferred to UT. I remember powering through the gazillion HornsLink pages of some of the most niche organizations on campus before I stumbled upon the beautiful KVRX logo. After attending a shockingly fun and comfortable training from none other than station legend Evan Stack, I was on my way to having my first of many shows here on 91.7.
What is your first KVRX memory?
This is going to turn into an Evan Stack fanzine, but here we go. It was my first show. I was exceptionally sweaty and self-conscious. I thought at any moment a representative of the KVRX zeitgeist was going to bust in and label me a poser or a top-of-the-pops conformist. To my surprise, this isn't high school. People just spread love here. Evan popped into the booth with a smile on his face and we shared a moment talking about our love for The Bats. I couldn't ask for a better first memory. My comfort level with this org shot through the roof after that.

Booking Manager for Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021.
How has KVRX affected your interaction with music?
KVRX made me rethink the notion that I had an all-encompassing knowledge of music. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and into artists and genres that are now foundational pieces of my music taste. I sure as hell use my Discover Weekly more now.
What's up outside of KVRX?
I'm currently looking for internships in LA for my post-grad UTLA program this summer. I mutilate my guitar with unholy sounds from time to time. Other than that, I'm trying to seek out the last set of college memories with friends before my time on the 40 acres comes to a close.
What is your favorite part of KVRX?
It's gotta be the friendliness of everyone. There's no gatekeeping. People just share what they love and have discussions about it. You don't have to be a music encyclopedia to participate in the dialogue.
What advice would you give to new DJ's?
Try to put yourself out there. Share what you love. I guarantee someone else has the same niche interests. And if they don't, they'll be chomping at the bit to hear about it. People love to learn new things in this org.
